A Root canal, though scary sounding, is generally a simple one or two visit procedure that allows a patient to retain a tooth that may have been removed in the past.

Everyday, plaque build up can lead to tooth decay and periodontal disease.  During your hygiene treatment, our registered dental hygienist will gently remove plaque from your teeth, check for periodontal disease, and demonstrate ways to improve your oral home care and brushing techniques.

Ultrasonic Scalers:
Our dental hygiene team uses ultrasonic scalers to comfortably and completely remove excessive plaque buildup from your teeth.

If our hygienist detects that you have active periodontal disease, she may use Arestin, an antibacterial medication, to reverse the effects of this disease. With proper care and routine follow up recare appointments, periodontal disease can be controlled and/or reversed. Periodontal disease is the number one cause for tooth loss among American adults.

What Happens During the Office Visits?
Full-mouth rehabilitation involves a preparation appointment and seating appointment.  During the preparation appointment, Dr. Castleberry or Dr. Peoples will remove all of your old restorations and any decay that has occurred.  Then, impressions of underlying healthy tooth structure are made and temporary teeth are made.  These temporaries are worn until the final appointment, about 3 weeks later.  At the seating appointment, your temporaries are removed and the final restorations are placed, creating an attractive, rejuvenated smile.

How Do I Know Whether I am a Candidate for Full Mouth Rehabilitation? 
If your teeth appear short and worn, or completely overlap your bottom teeth, or if you experience pain in the jaw joint, headaches, back pain, muscle tenderness or clicking of the jaw, then you should consider this procedure.  Having a beautiful smile is important and this procedure will give you that, along with alleviating the cause of the problem.
